Chandler is a city in the Phoenix metro area, in Arizona's Maricopa County. With a current population of more than 240,000 residents, Chandler is one of the largest cities in the Phoenix metro area, or the Valley of the Sun. Chandler was originally developed by Dr. Alexander John Chandler, Arizona's first veterinary surgeon. It grew slowly up until 1980, when it had about 30,000 residents.
